Why? Because, unlike Sonic or Mario, for the first time, you primarily viewed the character's rear end from behind as you ran into the screen. The Wombat That Wasn't: Crash was originally supposed to be called Willie the Wombat. The name "Crash" only stuck because he constantly smashes crates in the game. Not a Simple Upscale: The developers didn't have access to the original source code or the old animations from Naughty Dog for the remake. They had to rebuild the entire game from scratch, but were allowed to use the original level geometry as a blueprint. Coco is everywhere: Unlike the originals, in the Trilogy you can play almost all levels completely as Crash's sister, Coco. The "Stormy Ascent" phenomenon: The infamous Stormy Ascent level from the first game was included in the original PS1 title but was cut before release because it was too difficult, even for the developers. It was restored and fully completed for the Trilogy – perfect for losing your mind in a Let's Play! Meta-Easter eggs: When Coco looks at her laptop in the game, you can see (if you zoom in closely) that she's reading the official Crash Bandicoot subreddit or watching scenes from Uncharted 4. On the Wumpa Islands, the mad scientist Dr. Neo Cortex is mutating animals to create an army for world domination. But his experiment on the bandicoot Crash goes wrong. Crash escapes, breaks out of prison, and must now thwart Cortex's plans, rescue his friend Tawna, and save the world from chaos.
