However, for autumn planting (winter planting), the planting hole (trench) must be prepared in the spring, and for spring planting, the planting hole will need to be prepared in the fall. Only when these conditions are met is it possible to plant grape seedlings 100% successfully. Within six months, the soil in the planting hole will settle, preventing root deflection after planting in open ground. When planting grapes, the distance between vines should be at least 1.5 meters in a greenhouse and at least 2 meters in open ground. Proper planting of grapes is only possible using a vineyard hole. The vineyard hole should be at least 1 meter deep, 1 meter long, and 1 meter wide. Preparing the vineyard hole is crucial. Fill the vineyard hole with ash, iron, bones, and humus, which will provide the vine with nutrients for many years. Planting grapes in a trench is done in the same way as planting a vineyard hole. When digging the planting hole, you should immediately consider how to water and feed the grapes. Watering and feeding grapes are carried out using a sprinkler system, which is essential when preparing the planting hole. We live in challenging northern conditions, and simply planting seedlings in open ground won't work, as the vines simply won't ripen. How do you preserve grape seedlings? When can you plant grape seedlings you've rooted yourself or purchased? In southern climates, the planting window for grape seedlings is very wide. Planting grape seedlings in the Moscow region or planting grape seedlings in the central part of the country already has specific requirements, but planting grape seedlings in the ground in the Urals or Siberia requires a clear understanding of whether the vines will ripen or not. Whether you have grape seedlings in the fall or spring, the exact time for planting depends solely on whether the vines have ripened or not. If the vines are ripe, you can safely plant grapes with seedlings in the fall, just before covering them for the winter. If not, then plant them in the spring with seedlings when the vines open.
