Cycling The Lahaul Valley, India (Chapter 6)

We did not know much about the Lahaul Valley except that the road was in terrible condition for 100 km. Since it is closer to the front ranges of the Himalaya, the monsoons cause more washouts and landslides. After our time in the high alpine desert of Ladakh, we were a bit overwhelmed with all the water. As well, with all the moisture, it is much greener and better for grazing animals. The valley bottoms are lower, around 3500 m but the peaks are still huge, rising up over 6500 m. The riding was remote and spectacular.
