Skills Every 1960s British Boy Mastered Before 12
Lads back in 1960s Britain had a totally different level of freedom before they even got to their teens. If you wanted a go-kart to tear down the hills, you had to scavenge some old pram wheels from somewhere and build the whole thing yourself. You basically picked up a load of these handy, forgotten skills just by messing about on the streets with your mates. Some kids were expected to know how to wire a plug at the kitchen table, or patch up a flat bike tyre on the kerb when you were miles from home. Looking at these old school childhood memories now, the amount of independence we had compare to kids today is quite mad.
