A Geography Lesson in Spanish
The Montessori classroom is a perfect match for full Spanish immersion because it naturally provides a rich environment for language acquisition! In this video (shortened for time), a LePort student receives a geography lesson with the Painted Globe. In the three period lesson (1. naming, 2. recognizing/association, 3. pronouncing), Roan (3) was shown the relationship between the continents and oceans as his teacher isolated each part. There was even an “ah ha!” moment when Roan was shown the connection between Earth’s representation on a three-dimensional "globo pintado" and 2D projection on the "mapa del mundo."
