How to Stream Azure IoT Hub Data to Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse
In this video, we explore how to integrate Azure IoT Hub with Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse using Eventstream—a real-time intelligence tool within Microsoft Fabric. This tutorial walks you through setting up an end-to-end data pipeline from an edge device to a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse, all with no custom code. First, we create an Azure IoT Hub and set up a dedicated consumer group and device identity. Then, using a Raspberry Pi web simulator, we generate and stream telemetry data to our IoT Hub. Next, we build a new Microsoft Fabric workspace, set up an Eventstream, and connect it to our IoT Hub using a Shared Access Policy. Finally, we route the real-time sensor data into a new Delta Lake table in a Fabric Lakehouse and query the incoming data live using SQL. ⏱️ Timeline (Chapters): 00:00 - Introduction and Architecture Overview 01:21 - Creating a new Azure IoT Hub in the portal 03:30 - Reviewing and initializing the IoT Hub deployment 06:27 - Creating a dedicated Consumer Group for Fabric in IoT Hub 07:33 - Registering a new IoT Device (logical user) 09:31 - Configuring the "Service Connect" Shared Access Policy 10:07 - Setting up a new Microsoft Fabric Workspace 10:35 - Creating a new Eventstream in Microsoft Fabric 11:16 - Adding Azure IoT Hub as a data source to Eventstream 11:59 - Entering IoT Hub connection details (Shared Access Key) 14:44 - Adding a Lakehouse as the data destination 15:21 - Creating a new Lakehouse and Delta Table for sensor data 17:23 - Firing up the Raspberry Pi web simulator to generate data 18:16 - Updating the simulator with the IoT Hub connection string 18:56 - Running the simulator and sending real-time messages to IoT Hub 19:18 - Validating data arrival in the Fabric Eventstream live preview 21:46 - Navigating to the Fabric Lakehouse to view the Delta Table 23:21 - Querying the live streamed sensor data using the SQL Endpoint 24:28 - Final review and conclusion 🏷️ Tags: #Azure #MicrosoftFabric #IoTHub #Eventstream #Lakehouse #RealTimeData #DataStreaming #CloudComputing #AzureTutorial #DataEngineering #CloudNerchuko #TechTutorial #RaspberryPi
