Clash - Cut The Crap Live
The first Clash album was one of the greatest records ever released in the history of music, in my opinion. In the years that followed that release the band added other diverse influences to their music and moved far away from their three chord beginnings. After a shift in the band in 1982 they added new members and wanted to return to their roots. The band wrote new songs and toured all over the world in 1984-85 and eventually recorded their new songs in the studio for the next album. But, the band broke up after the recordings were made which left their manager to finish the album. Unfortunately, the manager made the album he wanted to make, rather than what the band wanted and the outcome and official release were not very good or close to the bands idea. There are a few good live recordings out there of The Clash playing some of the songs from that ended up on the album. I've collected those into a representation of what the album could have sounded like had the band finished it to their liking. Unfortunately there are three album songs and two b-side I could not find in live recordings - Fingerpoppin', Play To Win, Life Is Wild, Do It Now (b-side), Death Is A Star (b-side). And, for two tracks I could only find busking versions. To make up for all this I've added a live version of one song that they played but didn't seemingly record in the studio. While I think all these songs are good my favorites are This Is England and North And South. track list: 01. Dictator 02. Dirty Punk 03. We Are The Clash 04. Are You Red...Y 05. Cool Under Heat (busking version) 06. Movers And Shakers (busking version) 07. This Is England 08. Three Card Trick 09. North & South 10. Sex Mad Roar (b-side) 11. Ammunition (bonus)
