Links are in the description. The atmosphere on Umbara hangs thick with the scent of ozone and scorched earth. Rex breathes heavily as a circle of blasters surrounds him. His armor bears the batters and scars from the betrayal of his own commander. Pong Krell looms over him with a sadistic smile, his yellow eyes burning with malice. Krell: It is a pity, Captain. You were a capable tool, but tools that develop a conscience are merely scrap metal. Rex: My brothers were not tools. They were soldiers. They were men. You are nothing but a traitor to everything we stand for. Krell: I stand for the future. You stand for a dying order. Krell gestures to the surrounding clones. They stand stiff, their visors dark, their weapons leveled at their captain. Krell: Execute him. A volley of blue bolts lights the dim air. Rex slumps to the ground. His mission is over, and his life is extinguished in the mud of a world that never learned of his sacrifice. Miles away, aboard a cruiser in orbit, Obi-Wan Kenobi stands at the viewport. He suddenly gasps, clutching his chest as a sharp, agonizing tear ripples through the Force. It hits him with a wave of pure darkness and sudden, violent finality. Obi-Wan: Rex. He closes his eyes, reaching out into the Force. He sees the cold betrayal, the order, and the lights going out in the eyes of one of the finest men he knows. A cold, unfamiliar rage simmers in his gut. Obi-Wan: He killed him. Krell did this. Obi-Wan turns, his face a mask of iron. He skips the call for reinforcements and ignores council’s approval, marching toward the hangar with a purpose that feels less like a Jedi and more like a storm. When he arrives on Umbara, he finds Krell surveying the battlefield with arrogant satisfaction. Krell senses the arrival and turns, crossing his four arms over his chest. Krell: Kenobi. You are far from your command. Obi-Wan: You murdered him. You murdered them all. Krell: I did what was necessary to secure victory. You are too weak to see the truth of this war. The blue blade ignites with a sharp, violent hum. Obi-Wan abandons his usual defensive stance and steps forward with a cold, terrifying intensity. The Besalisk general laughs, drawing his two double-bladed lightsabers. The green and blue plasma casts eerie shadows across his face. Krell: Look at you. The great Negotiator, driven to madness by the death of a mere clone. Obi-Wan remains silent. He lunges while driving heavy and relentlessly aggressive strikes at his opponent. The finesse of Soresu disappears, replaced by a brutal, crushing offense that forces Krell backward. Krell parries the blows, his massive strength faltering against the sheer ferocity of Obi-Wan's assault. Krell: Yes! Give in to it, Kenobi! Feel the hatred! It’s liberating, isn’t it? You want to open my throat for what I did to your precious captain. Obi-Wan ducks under a spinning green blade, his face completely devoid of its usual Jedi calm. He channels the dark energy swelling within the Umbaran air, accelerating his movements into a blur of motion. Krell: Do you feel the hypocrisy choking you? You preach peace while you bathe in the Dark Side! Strike me down! Prove that the Jedi are nothing but cowards hiding behind a code! Krell unleashes a heavy, four-armed downward strike to crush Obi-Wan's guard. Instead, Obi-Wan sidesteps the attack with unnatural speed. With a single, blindingly fast circular slash, Obi-Wan's blade shears through all four of Krell's arms simultaneously. The green and blue lightsabers splatter into the mud, still clutched in severed hands. Krell falls to his knees, gasping in shock as smoke rises from his cauterized arm stumps. Obi-Wan stands over him, the blue light of his weapon illuminating the cold, dangerous emptiness in his eyes. He levels the tip of his blade inches from Krell’s throat. #starwars #starwarswhatif #whatif
