The Gulf War has taken its' toll on transatlantic passenger numbers; Trans World Airlines agreed in late 1990 to sell its six routes between the United States and London to American Airlines for $445 million. Pan Am agreed to sell its London routes to United Airlines for $400 million. These were new airlines to Heathrow in 1991, promising improved service, directly challenging the status-quo. Against this backdrop, this film captures the events and initiatives being developed within British Airways during 1991 to remain competitive and to tackle the new competition. These included the relaunch of Club Europe; new TV advertising, further cost cutting measures and staff surveys - all of which are featured briefly. Spot the aircraft no longer flying - 757s, a taxi-ing 737-200 in front of the tailpipes of a BAC 1-11 at Terminal 1 and the arrival of the "new" 737-400 series aircraft; G DOCA - etc.
