Quilts As Storytelling - Primary & Secondary Interpretive Design

I had a wonderful weekend at the Stitched Together Retreat hosted by Chelsea Porter of A Few Loose Threads! While I was an attendee, I was also able to give a 1.5 hour lecture demo to the other attendees in the group specifically about how we can use quilting in our storytelling when we make quilts! The main quilt that I showcase at the beginning of the lecture, called "Coven Lovin" is extra special to me. I hope you enjoy it too. In the middle of the lecture we look at a few different quilts that I have made in my career, and we analyze and dissect the quilting and how those choices influenced the quilt top and fabric choices. In the last half of the lecture, we open an image of the quilt that we were making during the retreat and talk about possible ways to free-motion quilt it so that in enhances an already beautiful pattern. Enjoy!
