A Ravioli Factory Turned Recording Studio - A Haverstick Design Studio Tour

After a lifetime of being told to turn it down, Frankie Muriel built a studio where nobody can hear him at all, inside a former ravioli factory in St. Louis. Gavin heads to The Hill in St. Louis, Missouri, to tour the home studio of Frankie Muriel, longtime frontman of Dr. Zhivegas, in a building that started as a theater and spent decades as a ravioli factory. Tracy at Haverstick Designs created the renderings, and Markway Construction delivered their first-ever high-end studio build with isolation so complete that a nail gun firing in the booth is silent in the control room. Inside, wood slats fade seamlessly into hidden diffusers, backed by bass trapping, ceiling clouds, and LED lighting, with a vocal booth behind double sliding laminated glass from Soundproof Windows. The gear is a vintage-meets-new dream: an API 1608 console sourced through Vintage King, Brent Averill era Neve preamps, Kii Three monitors with subs, and two tape machines for cutting drums the old-school way. Frankie's new album, The Cabo Sessions, arrives in July, made in the bunker he can finally run at full volume at three in the morning.
