Raised in a devout Catholic home, a childhood encounter with a harsh missionary and a strict father left him questioning his faith and searching for an escape. As a teenager he drifted into drugs and heavy drinking, eventually losing his career, self-worth, and peace of mind. Depression and panic attacks drove him to the brink of suicide. But on the edge of a rooftop, ready to end it all, Gitonga felt a powerful call to live. Choosing surrender over death, he sought help through Alcoholics Anonymous and rediscovered the God he had doubted. Through mentorship, therapy, and faith, he found healing and purpose.
