Joan Jett & The Blackhearts perform their 1982 UK No.4 hit "I Love Rock’n’Roll", taken from their 1981 album of the same name, live at Manchester Academy, Oxford Road, Manchester on Saturday 4 July 2026. This was the second night of the band's first UK headline tour in 16 years. "I Love Rock’n’Roll" was originally written in 1975 by Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker for their English glam rock band, the Arrows. Jett's version topped the US Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling over two million copies within the United States. It was subsequently covered by artists such as Britney Spears and "Weird Al" Yankovic. In 2016, it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.
