Fire In The Sky - Alderon Tyran

Finally finished this song that I've been working on for a few months! I first heard this song as a young kid and I give it credit for my fascination with space all throughout my childhood and, by extension, youth. This song was originally written by Dr. Jordin Kare and originally released in 1983 in the album "Minus Ten and Counting". The version, I listened to as a kid, and thus expanded upon was an extended re-recording of the original, was released in the collection "To Touch The Stars: A Musical Celebration of Space Exploration", published in 2004; Sung by Kristoph Klover. My optimism for space hasn't yet failed me and I'm constantly excited by the advancements SpaceX is making so it felt proper for me to get this video out before the first flight test of Starship. Lyrics: Prometheus, they say, brought God's fire down to man And we’ve caught it, tamed it, trained it since our history began Now we’re going back to Heaven just to look Him in the eye And there’s a thunder ‘cross the land and a fire in the sky Gagarin was the first back in 1961 When, like Icarus, undaunted, he climbed to reach the sun And he knew he might not make it, for it’s never hard to die But he lifted off the pad and rode a fire in the sky Yet a higher goal was calling and we vowed to reach it soon And we gave ourselves a decade to put fire on the moon And Apollo told the world we can do it if we try There was one small step and a fire in the sky Then two decades from Gagarin, twenty years to the day Came a shuttle named Columbia to open up the way And they said she’s just a truck, but she’s a truck that’s aimin’ high See her big jets burning, see her fire in the sky Yet the gods do not give lightly, of the powers they have made, And with Challenger and seven, once again the price was paid. And the nation watched her falling, and it killed our will to fly As our dreams fell burning, as our fire left the sky Nearly two decades of mourning, we knew again we’d have to try But Columbia had fallen, ‘cross that early morning sky Though we all must move on someday so now we raise our eyes To our new space rockets, streaking fire across the sky   Now the most grandiose of starships, we have built and now we fly And they land themselves daily, and rise again to places high And now we look to leave our cradle, to take our place among the stars As now reach but further, Bringing fire down to Mars. See the rest is up to us - there’s a future to be won We must turn our faces outward, we will do what must be done For no cradle lasts forever, every bird must learn to fly And we’re goin’ to the stars, see our fire in the sky Yes, we’re going to the stars, see our fire - in the sky Yes I’ll Remember, Until I Die Our Fire in the sky x2
