To substitute colours, you usually need to make blends of other colours. ALTERNATIVES FOR CAPUT MORTUUM: If you only have something like BURNT SIENNA/INDIAN RED/VENETIAN RED/BURNT UMBER/LIGHT RED, you can use a watered-down mix for the light side and a stronger mix for the darker side. Add some Payne's Grey/Neutral Tint/Sepia/Van Dyke Brown to create a darker pigment. ALTERNATIVES FOR MOONGLOW: Neutral Tint/Payne's Grey Black/Lamp Black/Indigo/Prussian Blue When creating a pre-mix, use your discretion to add a little bit of pigment at a time, until you have the color mix you need. If you work wet-on-wet, your pigment ratios will be higher. With wet-on-dry, your mix should be more watery. 🎨PAINTS: Heinrich loves experimenting with colour combinations, however, you don't have to use all these colours...see the note about COLOUR ALTERNATIVES above.
