Vladislav Yerko is one of the most iconic and famous illustrators of Eastern Europe, who raised children's book illustration to the level of true art. Vladislav Eduardovich Yerko (born July 1, 1962, Kyiv, Kyiv region) is a Ukrainian artist-illustrator, known for his collaboration with the publishing house "A-ba-ba-ga-la-ma-ga". Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine since 1989. Among Yerko's works, the most recognized and popular are the illustrations for the Ukrainian edition of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, and for the series of novels by Carlos Castaneda and Paulo Coelho (Yerko's illustrations for Coelho's books were even released by the Sofia publishing house as a separate album, explaining this by the fact that "with repeated enlargement, new and new details appear in Yerko's illustrations") "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Andersen with Yerko's illustrations was published by the Ukrainian publishing house "A-Ba-Ba-Ga-La-Ma-Ga", won the Grand Prix at the all-Ukrainian competition "Book of the Year-2000", and in 2005 it was published in English in two editions and became the sales leader of the English publishing house "Templar". In the USA it received the title "Best Children's Book-2006", as well as the Andersen Foundation medal. Paulo Coelho described Yerko's The Snow Queen as "the most amazing children's book I've ever seen in my life." In 2008, Yerko's new Ukrainian translation of Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet by Yuri Andrukhovych won the Grand Prix of the Lviv Publishers Forum. In 2018, he was included in the IBBY Honour List for illustrating the book The Little Prince (A-BA-BA-GA-LA-MA-GA, 2018).
