Darlington Woods Hike 2026-04-16 Pt1 - Grateful Dead - Supplication - Boston, MA 1980-05-12 #hiking

This is part 1 of the full video of our hike at the Darlington Woods on April 16, 2026. There are a few different trails in these woods. The first trail we took was a loop around a park just off of the main road. There is a bridge that crosses the Chester Creek here and a trail head just next to it. In this part of the video, we walk around the loop once then crossed the street to the trail that runs along the creek for a ways. It ends up veering off away from the creek and intersects with some railroad tracks. This music clip is 46 years ago tonight, my 3rd Grateful Dead show and also my 17th birthday. It was an unforgettable night. The Grateful Dead at the Boston Garden in Boston, MA on May 12, 1980. The first set opened with Jack Straw (my 1st) into Alabama Getaway into El Paso. This clip is a boppin "Supplication" from the middle of the first set. Jerry jams it out the whole way through. The whole way. That guitar amazes me. The Boston Garden was a steep stadium. Our seats were in the upper level.. i remember feeling like i could fall off of that level very easily. it freaked me out the whole show. I'm very thankful that i didn't launch....at least physically. Check out the setlist from this show: 1st set: Jack Straw ~ Alabama Getaway ~ El Paso, Althea, Lazy Lightning ~ Supplication ~ Far From Me, Minglewood Blues, China Cat Sunflower ~ I Know You Rider 2nd set: Feel Like A Stranger, Ship of Fools ~ Estimated Prophet ~ He's Gone ~ Drums ~ Saint Of Circumstance ~ Wharf Rat ~ Sugar Magnolia, E: U.S. Blues I saw the grateful dead back in 1979 when i was 15... that night changed my life. i was amazed by everything i saw, felt, and heard, from start to finish. Most impressive was the lead guitarist, Jerry Garcia. He had something special, some magic in him, for sure. The band as a whole was one of a kind, but Garcia stood out. From the start, I always thought of it as the "Phil & Jerry show." That night, 1/18/1979, put me on a fantastically long, strange, trip that i'm still on today. I'm happy to say that i saw the grateful dead 78 times. I also went to as many JGB shows as i could- i don't have a count on those. i can truly say that i definitely didn't see either band often enough! My name is Leo. Through the years i never really learned how to play the guitar. Just played it and struggled the whole way. Haven't had a lesson... I've tried not to listen to anyone about it- and it probably shows. What i offer you is me, and this music from my heart, born of pure love and emotion. Hopefully you'll feel some of it as you listen. I'm not the best singer but i love to sing the dead and garcia tunes. There's so much meaning behind all of it for me. I know many of you share this same feeling... its something special and very difficult to describe. Something about Garcia's sincerity when he sang rubbed off on all of us. We remember when we hear their music. I miss Jerry every day. His music is an inspiration... #shortvideo #shortsvideo #hiking #nature #wildlife #gratefuldead #music #livemusic #jerrygarcia #hike #hikingtrails #love #video #hikingvideo #hiker #nature #woods #naturelovers
