Utrecht tevreden met extra lange bussen

GRONINGEN - The municipality of Utrecht has had positive experiences with the extra-long buses, which offer a potential alternative to the tram in the city of Groningen. Parties in the Groningen Provincial Council want to investigate whether the extra-long buses are also suitable for the city. Arriva has already conducted a test run, but Utrecht is the only municipality in the Netherlands with seven years of experience with the buses. The 27 double-decker buses there transport approximately forty thousand people to the hospital and the university during peak hours. According to Jan van Dijk, workshop manager at the Utrecht Municipal Transport Company, the articulated buses perform well. They can carry many passengers and are comfortable. But the manager believes the discussion about the ideal mode of transport will never be hushed up, even in Utrecht.
