BR Class 40 Locomotives in the Pre Digital Age Vol BR40-01

BRITISH RAILWAYS VINTAGE TRACTION BR Class 40 Locomotives in the Pre-Digital Age (1987) Volume BR40-01 This feature focuses on the English Electric Type 4 Locomotive Class 40, built at the English Electric Vulcun Foundry in Newton-Le-Willows between 1958 and 1962. These 2,000 HP Locomotives had a maximum speed of 90 MPH and were fitted with steam heating boilers, which could be replenished by means of a scoop, operated from the driving cab. Seen working many types of trains, Passenger, Parcels, Postal (as the great train robbers got to discover, a class 40 which their driver could not manage to operate....) and heavy freight. Seen all over the network mainly and the final years of operation saw a member of the class, namely 40122 (D200) on duties over the S & C in the year 1987. After some of the class were preserved and have run on the mainline with a few specials. Not a very long video as I only managed to capture the Locomotive at Carlisle and then on a couple of specials, but hopefully you will enjoy the feature, please comment and like, if you feel the video was of some enjoyment and nostalgia to watch.
