Majek Fashek—Redemption Song
This is an excerpt from the Reggae Strong, Bob Marley Tribute program. Featured here is Majek Fashek, the great Nigerian reggae artist, and his band, the Prisoners of Conscience, doing his version of "Redemption Song." The concert footage was shot at Kilimanjaro, in NYC, in November, 1990, and most of the exterior footage was shot at the Bob Marley Museum, at 56 Hope Road, in Kingston, during the museum's annual birthday celebration for Bob in February. Included also is stock footage (courtesy Island Records) of the Independence ceremony in Zimbabwe, on April 18, 1980. Barring unforeseen restrictions, the full, Tribute to Bob Marley, program will be available to channel members later this spring. May Majek and Bob continue to rest in peace and love. Well loved and well-missed.
