1D Hydrodynamic Models
Introduction to 1D hydrodynamic models covering the governing equations, variously described as the St Venant equations, the shallow water equations and dynamic wave approximation. Each term in the equations is described and simplifications to the equations, the diffusion wave and kinematic wave approximations, are defined. Assumptions embedded in 1D hydrodynamic models and when they might be violated are highlighted.
