2017 CIFSS Div 3 FINALS 100BR: Sharkboy vs. Sean Ward!

In 2015, sophomore "Sharkboy" (Jacob Christensen) swimming for Valencia-Placentia HS finished 2nd place (runner-up) to junior Nicholas Masinsin (CIF Champ 2015 - 100BR) from Moorpark HS. In 2016, Sharkboy came back to finals with a vengeance and beat the defending champ, Masinsin, to take his first CIF Title in the 100BR! In 2017, with a nagging left hamstring issue the Princeton University bound Sharkboy dropped his freestyle relay races at CIF-SS finals to focus on his main event; 100 Breaststroke. However, the junior swimming out of La Serna HS, Sean Ward, proved to be not only a worthy competitor but a championship caliber opponent by edging Sharkboy and taking the title as the new CIF CHAMP! Great swim boys! 1st: Sean Ward (:56.14) 2nd: Sharkboy (:56.71). Both times were good for All-American Consideration. CIF-SS D3 Trivia: this marks the third year running that that a junior has taken the 100 Breaststroke title and the second year running that the defending champ, as a senior, has been dethroned by a junior.
