5 Tips for Veterans Going to School

Going back school after serving in the military was one on the hardest transitions I have gone through. Many Veterans struggle with transitioning from active duty to civilian student. It is also a feat that tens of thousands of Veterans have successfully accomplished. How did they do it? Well, everyone’s journey is different, but if you use these five tips it will make the journey a lot easier. TIP #1: Be humble (you are a beginner again) TIP #2: Embrace civilian ignorance TIP #3: Manage your expectations of your new peers TIP #4: Focus of the mission TIP #5: FIND THE OTHERS VETERANS I do not believe that getting more degrees is the only path to success, but I do believe education is. Whether, your next step after serving is learning a new trade, college or starting your own business, educating yourself and becoming comfortable (enough) around civilians is key.
