El terremoto que hundió a Armenia 🇦🇲
My tour of the rest of Armenia begins. In this video, I head north from Yerevan, specifically toward the city of Gyumri. This part of the country was one of the hardest hit during the worst earthquake in recent history. On December 7, 1988, the earth shook violently, leaving a desolate landscape that still bears some of its wounds and scars. A few years later, the USSR dissolved and the Nagorno-Karabakh war began, plunging the country into a spiral of poverty from which it still seems to have emerged. On this trip, I travel to the epicenter of the earthquake and speak with locals about their past and present experiences.
