They Told Me to Skip Guatemala City… I’m Glad I Didn’t

They told me to skip Guatemala City. I'm glad I didn't. Most people fly into Guatemala and head straight to Antigua or Lake Atitlán — but the capital? They sleep on it. In this video I give Guatemala City a real chance, and it completely surprised me. We kick things off at the Relief Map of Guatemala — a massive outdoor scale model of the entire country that you have to see to believe. From there we head into the heart of the city to explore the Central Market, where I try some local food and soak in the chaos of everyday Guatemalan life. Then we make our way to San Martín to check out some of the local architecture, swing by the iconic National Palace, and cap the whole day off with a cold beer at one of the oldest bars in Guatemala. This city has character. It has history.
