This road trip begins with Franchinello to discover the best food the heel of Italy has to offer. Could I not bring some greasy street food to the baroque city par excellence? Of course not! As I reiterate in the video, last summer I already had the opportunity to share some of my Salento experiences. I shot a themed video in this very area; you can find it at the end of the description if you want to watch it! As usual, I'll leave you with the info about the places visited in this video, in order of appearance: "Mezzo Quinto Cibo di Strada" is located downtown, specifically at Via Degli Ammirati 16. As you saw in the video, they have very few seats; I don't think you can reserve a table. Get in line and be ready to snag a free table (if you're lucky). "Porcaria - Il panino gourmet" is located at Vico del Tufo 15. I wasn't thrilled with it; they have several seats, both indoor and outdoor. "Caffè Alvino" is located at Piazza Sant'Oronzo 30. My verdict is YES for the rustico and the classic pasticciotto, and NO for the savory one!! If you can drive, pop by "Pasticceria Ascalone" in Galatina; there I ate the best pasticciotto of my life (which I also tried in the video linked below). "Taqueria Mexicana" was a huge disappointment. Did you think I was unlucky? I don't know... judge for yourself; the reviews had really raised my expectations, unfortunately. You'll find this little Mexican-themed place at Via Gaetano Brunetti 1/A. Last but not least: "Il re del Panino," I think the best food truck I've ever had in my life, both for the quality of the ingredients and the price range. I couldn't tell you the specific address, since it's a food truck; you'll find it somewhere near Via Pietro Palumbo 4. They don't work at lunch (from what I've seen), but they do at dinner!!
