In other vehicles, it's usually located behind the storage compartment on the left (passenger) side of the car, or behind the center console. WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THE CABIN AIR FILTER? The function of the cabin air filter is to prevent dirt from entering the vehicle's interior when we use the heating or air conditioning, so that we breathe the cleanest air possible. Changing this filter is quite simple and only requires a flathead screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, and a new filter. For extra thoroughness, vacuum the filter housing to ensure it's completely clean. WHY CHANGE THE CABIN FILTER? Over time and with the use of the heating/air conditioning, the cabin filter absorbs dirt particles from the environment until it becomes saturated. You may notice a decrease in the airflow from the blower, as well as a musty/earthy smell while using the heating or air conditioning.
