Does it get better? Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland

We took our Class B RV along the rugged coast of Newfoundland for one of our favorite stretches of this road trip. This leg of the journey takes us from dramatic cliffside trails to historic villages and up-close wildlife encounters along the Bonavista Peninsula. In this video: Chance Cove Coastal Trail: We hike along the cliffs and secluded beaches to reach one of the most stunning panoramic ocean viewpoints in the province. Local Fact: The turquoise waters here look tropical, but they are actually fed by melting Arctic icebergs drifting south through "Iceberg Alley." Trinity & The Heritage Village: We explore the well-preserved historic buildings of Trinity and spot whales right off the rugged coastline. Local Fact: To preserve its authentic 1800s appearance, the town enforces strict heritage bylaws that limit exterior paint choices to traditional colors like ochre, dory green, and iron oxide red. Bonavista & Elliston: After exploring the town of Bonavista, we head out to Elliston to visit the famous colony of Atlantic puffins, capturing some incredible wildlife photos that look straight out of National Geographic. Local Fact: While Elliston is famous for puffins, its official title is the "Root Cellar Capital of the World"—with over 135 traditional frost-free vegetable root cellars built into the hillsides dating back to the 19th century.
