Small Stream Dry Fly - Don't go home when the surface is quiet!!

Welcome Back! It can be disappointing when you turn up at your favourite stream, looking forward to fishing the Dry Fly. Just one hassle - No flies hatching and no fish rising! However by searching out likely spots - in this case on shallow runs and pocket pools, its still possible to have a great day. Join me, as I prospect this tiny but stunning, woodland stream, and its shady secret holes to find a few of its feisty little spotted residents prepared to take my bushy dry fly, despite the fact that few trout are rising! These brown trout might not be the biggest, but are 100% wild! The 7ft 3 wt rod is a joy to fish with on these miniature waterways, coupled with a double taper floating line and a tapered leader down to a 3lb (5x) tippet. A march brown emerger pattern and the classic glistening Wickham's Fancy are my weapons of choice to grab the trout's attention in the fast, rough stream. Tight lines, thanks for watching! Dave 👍
