Ultimate DCC Throttle – Part 15 Detailed Update! NOTE: Make sure to watch the next video that has a missing segment on the cab itself! This video fully demonstrates my upgraded Ultimate DCC Throttle (UDT) made in the last year. In Part 15, I describe in detail the workings of the UDT to operate a HO gauge model railroad EMD F7A locomotive on my layout from a custom made ½ scale F7A cab! What I see in the windshield is a 1080p live video on a 48 inch monitor captured by a wireless HDMI 1080p 30 fps custom made video camera and lens bring a whole new level picture clarity! A couple of key new features: 1) Completely re-designed video camera. Based on a 4K camera, the sensor and lens has been modified to produce an incredibly wide focus range from the tip of the locomotive nose to the end of my layout. Video grain noise has been cutting almost in half compared to my camera used in Part-9. Clear night time operation is now possible. 2) An additional video processing computer to provide a dynamic environment lite F7A nose overlay as well as artificial layout effects. 3) Completely redesigned “Radio” computer that creates voice based communications with a virtual railroad dispatcher enabling for control of my layout without ever leaving the cab. Using JMRI, the UDT can monitor “LRoutes” providing verbal instruction to the cab for “solo” operations. 4) Additional sensors in the locomotive monitor acceleration, shock and truck rotation providing up to 15 new sound effects. 5) Much more!
