I Came To Win. This parkrun Had Other Plans | Statesman Quest Ep. 4

I came to Surat parkrun with a very specific plan. Position Bingo — 1st or 3rd. The course had other ideas. So did 4 locals who ran course PBs. The Statesman Quest is my mission to run every Queensland parkrun before my 58th birthday. 44 down. 98 to go. Surat was supposed to be a window — a small-field event where those positions were actually within reach. Then five runners disappeared over the horizon in the first 400 metres, my HR hit the 180s, and a field that knew this course intimately flew around it faster than they ever had. In this video: why the Quest creates competitive opportunities your home parkrun never will, how I completely misread Surat's elevation profile, how I adapted to a fartlek workout mid-race, and what it means to give 100% when the plan falls apart at the 400m mark. 8th place. Position Bingo: failed. 4 locals running the best day of their lives on this course. Effort given: everything. 📍 THE COURSE X-Factor: The undulating profile — Surat works you harder than it looks Highlights: Outback Queensland scenery, small field, tight-knit community Who should come: Anyone chasing a challenging 5k or a small-field PB attempt in the Queensland outback ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 — Position Bingo explained [fill timestamps before upload] ☕ SUPPORT THE STATESMAN QUEST Help fuel the Queensland parkrun adventure → https://ko-fi.com/mustardseedrunning 10% goes to parkrun Australia. 📍 FOLLOW THE FULL QUEST →    • Queensland Statesman Quest   #parkrun #parkrunaustralia #suratparkrun #queenslandparkrun #statesmanquest #fartlektraining #fartlekrun #5krun #runningaustralia #parkrunvlog #runningvlog #runningforbeginners #howtorunfaster #recreationalrunning #runningcoach
