On a sunny afternoon I took my bike for a spin to Muiden to shoot some footage, but on the way back decided to take a detour and visit Weespersluis - a new neighborhood that is part of Weesp, a beautiful, small medieval city just outside of Amsterdam. I knew about this development, as I had visited it during the very first stages of construction, and read about it on a blog post by Mieke Bosse and Paul Dijkman on the INTBAU the Netherlands website. But other than that, I had no idea what to expect. So when I arrived, I wasn’t prepared to find some very well executed streets, interesting architecture and details I absolutely loved! I decided to make a video about it on the spot, so I filmed, returned the next day to film the surroundings, and returned one extra time to film even more of this neighborhood. Although it is an expensive place to live, it has affordable housing too which is executed very well - and the urban design and the details are truly what stands out, and what we should learn from.
