But I know some tricks to solve this and I'm going to share them with you now. First, we must keep in mind that a speaker performs much better if installed in an acoustic box, and if we can transform the car door into an acoustic box, we solve this problem. When we analyze a car door, we realize that there are several holes and gaps in its structure, and these prevent the isolation of the front and back of the speaker. Isolating the front and back of the speaker in the car door transforms it into an acoustic box with about 20 liters of volume, which is perfect for the performance of the mid-range frequencies and even some bass from the speaker. To do this insulation, we can use the same asphaltic sheeting used to insulate holes in roofs, as it has one self-adhesive side and another side with a chrome-colored plastic film, which prevents the passage of sound and heat and also offers better rigidity to the door's metal body. Start by placing the sheeting on the inside of the outer metal of the door, but only in places where there is a larger expanse of smooth metal. After that, close all the existing holes in the inner metal of the door, and we will have a practically isolated acoustic box. The second aspect that influences the good performance of the speaker is the position in which it is fixed to the door. This position, in addition to being extremely firm, should be as close as possible to the door lining so that the sound is projected more clearly into the car. To do this, I recommend making MDF wall mounts so the speaker is higher and closer to the ceiling, and since MDF is very rigid, it provides a solid surface for the speaker to be perfectly fixed.
