Black Betty is already tied up on another job, and the new 6x6 recovery build is still under construction as the crew races against the clock trying to get it ready for competition season. That leaves only one option: Mrs. Wrecker Rick’s Ram 3500 dually. And let’s just say… Big Booty Judy was not exactly built for mountain trail recoveries. Street tires, rough suspension, long wheelbase — basically the opposite of what you want for a remote offroad rescue in rocky Arizona terrain. But when people need help, you work with what you’ve got, and the Cummins-powered dually pushes farther into the backcountry than anyone expected. After clawing through rough forest roads and rocky trails, the truck finally reaches a point where the terrain becomes too steep and narrow to continue. From there, the Murphys Diesel crew has no choice but to pack in the recovery gear and hike the remaining distance on foot toward the stranded side-by-side hanging dangerously near the cliffside. And this is where Wrecker Rick goes full legend mode. With over 300 feet of winch line, a portable Warrior Winch, and a 12-volt battery strapped to his back, Rick literally hikes recovery equipment up the mountain by hand to reach the stuck UTV. No fancy tow truck. No easy access.
