The Guess Who - No Time (2026 Mix)
This is a fan-made stereo remix of No Time by The Guess Who. The first song off of Canned Wheat, this is the first song from the album I'm remixing. The whole album will be out soon. A lot of this album suffered from hard panning, and choices to pan certain instruments like the drums all to one channel. I have rectified that with this remix. I used AI to demix the original version of the song. The guitars are not as hard-panned as before, and the drums have been moved from the left channel to the center. Moving the drums allowed the clean guitar in the left to be brought up in the mix. I separated the backing vocals and have the lower harmony sitting in the left, and the higher harmony in the right. They now nicely surround Burton Cummings' voice. Aside from panning and mixing decisions, I also decided to make changes to the acoustics. While Wheatfield Soul was recorded at A&R Studios, all of Canned Wheat was recorded at RCA Studios. Randy Bachman and the rest of the band felt it was "impossible to get a good 'room' sound." As a result, Canned Wheat sounds very dry compared Wheatfield Soul. However, the band, working alongside producer Jack Richardson, secretly re-recorded Laughing and Undun, which would appear on the album. Those songs sound much better acoustic-wise compared to the rest of the album. I decided to add an extra layer of reverb to this song to give it a better room sound. I think it better gives off the vibe of the band playing in the room, in addition to the improved panning. Written by Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings. Originally produced by Jack Richardson. All credits go to The Guess Who and RCA Records. Lyrics are included in closed caption form.
