Spain's Field Farm December 2018 update
Spain's Field Farm is being rebuilt stone by stone as part of our Remaking Beamish project. The Farm, originally located near Stanhope in Weardale was deconstructed in 2016. Following three years of careful recording work, the Team moved 900 tonnes of stone, 50 tonnes of stone roof slates, 60 tonnes of rubble infill and 10 tonnes of timber over a 17 week period! Paul Marron, Buildings Team Leader (Masonry) provides us with an update on how the reconstruction work is going. Thanks to the money raised by National Lottery players, the Remaking Beamish project has been awarded £10.9 million by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
