This week, episode 500 welcomes rapper, actor, and writer MC Jean Gab'1. Born in 1967, Charles, his real name, grew up in Paris's 19th arrondissement. A sports enthusiast, he played rugby and boxed from a very young age... But his life changed drastically in 1977. He was stunned to learn that his father had just murdered his mother. As a result, by court order, the entire family was placed in foster care, and he remained there until he turned 18. Returning to Paris in 1985, he discovered a new movement: hip hop. He throws himself into dance, graffiti... and at the same time, he joins a gang: the Vicious Sharks. Resourcefulness is the watchword, and Little Charles, as he's nicknamed, does a few stints behind bars. Upon his release, he decides to head to Germany, where he also encounters misadventures that land him a five-year prison sentence for armed robbery. It's the early 2000s, and Charles begins writing lyrics under the pseudonym MC Jean Gab'1. He forges a career in music, which opens doors to cinema, where we've seen him in successful films like Black, District 13, and Seul Two...
