Mao's Last Dancer: From Mao's China to Queensland Ballet | MAKERS WHO INSPIRE
From humble beginnings in Mao's China, Li Cunxin has gone on to have a long and diverse career as an internationally-acclaimed dancer with the Houston Ballet and Australian Ballet. His bestselling memoir Mao's Last Dancer, which was adapted into a 2009 feature film, follows the story of his defection to the West. Today, Li heads the Queensland Ballet as its artistic director, and works to create new opportunities for the next generation of dancers. Season 4 of Makers Who Inspire focuses upon the experiences of migrant and Asian-Australian creators and was assisted by the South Australian government through Carclew.
