Sofija Asgatovna Gubajdulina (1931 - ) - Sonatina for Solo Flute (1978) Sofija Gubajdulina ist eine der wichtigsten russischen Komponistinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Als Schülerin von Shostakovich und Mitstudentin von Schnittke und Denisov konnte sie sich als Komponistin einen Namen machen, auch wenn das stalinistische und post-stalinistische Regime sie auf die berüchtigte “schwarze Liste” der Komponisten und Künstler setzte. In ihrer Musik geht es um die innere Schönheit des Klangs, die Erforschung des Selbst, voll von philosophischen und literarischen Verbindungen (von Kierkegaard, Lessing und Hegel bis hin zu Laozi und Meister Eckhart). Zudem ist es durchtränkt von Symbolen, Religion und Numerologie. Große musikalische Einflüsse in ihrer Musik kommen von Bach und den Strukturen seiner Stücke, von Bartók und seinem Rhythmusgebrauch, und von Skrjabin und seiner Farbenlehre. Neben vielen anderen Flötenstücken (darunter auch ein Solokonzert) hat sie eine «Sonatine für Flöte solo» geschrieben, die alle Charakteristika ihres Schreibens aufweist. Die bezifferten Längen der unterschiedlichen Atempausen bilden einen rhythmischen Kontrapunkt zu der Melodie. Der Klang wird durch ihre Verwendung von mikrotonalen und polyphonen Passagen erforscht. Die Struktur ist einfach und klar und führt in jedem Abschnitt zu vielen lokalen Höhepunkten, zum Haupthöhepunkt des Stückes und dann wieder zurück; eine Metapher für das Wachsen, Blühen und Vergehen des menschlichen Lebens, der Zivilisationen. Es ist ein Bild der Natur oder eine Metapher für die ständige Sehnsucht des Menschen nach Berührung mit Gott. Sofija Gubajdulina is one of the most important Russian composers of the 20th century. One of Shostakovič’s pupils, and fellow student of Schnittke and Denisov, she was able to gain notoriety as a composer even if the Stalinist and post-Stalinist regime put her on their infamous “black list” of composers and artists. Her music is about the intrinsic beauty of the sound, the exploration of the self, full with philosophical and literary connections (from Kierkegaard, Lessing and Hegel, to Lao-Tzu and Meister Eckhart), and drenched in symbols, religion, and numerology. Great musical influences in her music comes from Bach and his pieces’s brilliant structures, Bartók and his rhythm use, and Skrjabin and his theory of colours. Alongside many other flute pieces (including the beautiful concerto), she wrote a «Sonatina for Solo Flute», that has all the characteristics of her writing. The rhythm has a great importance especially in the breaths of various length, that form almost a rhythmical counterpart. The sound is explored through her usage of microtonal and polyphonic passages. The structure is simple and clear, and leads to many local climaxes in every section, to the main climax of the piece, and then back again; a metaphor of the growth, flourishing and decay of human life, of civilisations. It is an image of the nature, or a metaphor of man’s constant longing for touching God.
