Finale's Finale: What happens next in music notation?
https://daviddas.com -- It's time to take apart the late-breaking news of the demise of one of the very first music notation programs, Finale, which originated in the 1990's. The recent announcement of the discontinuation of the program from its current owner, MakeMusic, has shocked and angered a lot of veteran users. As a legacy user myself of Finale, then Avid's Sibelius, and now Steinberg's Dorico, I take a look at the current state of the major music notation programs, and also consider the new upstart, the free MuseScore platform.
