This will be the first time in Korba district's history that effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakaran, and son Meghnath will be burned alongside Ravana. The Ravana Dahan ceremony has been held at Lal Maidan for the past 40 years. The Ravana here is known for its uniqueness: sometimes it shakes its head, sometimes it roars, sometimes it emits smoke, sometimes it turns its head, and sometimes it laughs loudly. This year, the effigy of Kumbhakaran, along with Ravana, will be known for its snoring, while Meghnath will swing his shield and invite people to war. The Ravana at Lal Maidan is also known for its height; this time, it is 110 feet tall. Kumbhakaran is 65 feet tall, and Meghnath is 60 feet tall. The Ravana at Lal Maidan is known for being the tallest Ravana not only in Korba but in all of Chhattisgarh. Before the burning, fireworks and tableaux are displayed.
