Karol Maliszewski, "The Devil from Wilkowiec." Piotr Jakub Fereński talks to the author Lower Silesia, especially the Nowa Ruda region—the region stretching from the Table Mountains in the south to the Owl Mountains in the north—is rich in stories, tales, and legends. Karol Maliszewski decided to collect and retell them, the first installment of which was the book "The Witch on Włodzicą," published in 2021. With the help of illustrator Tatiana Tokarczuk, the author is now returning to this topic, publishing the volume "The Devil from Wilkowiec." He is finding further sources and accounts. He draws his knowledge and materials primarily from German-language works published in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The authors of the book—also through fantastic illustrations—not only draw readers into the extraordinary world of fairy tales but also expand their knowledge of the region and its past. They also encourage everyone to pursue their own explorations, embark on literary and hiking journeys, and discover the secrets of Lower Silesia. (co-organizer: Wydawnictwo Wielowy)
