A NEW ESPRESSO IN THE HOUSE? Don't worry, today we'll fine-tune your portafilter and grinder together using the '1/2/30' method. I always pull a double espresso with a 1:2 ratio (one part ground espresso in the portafilter to two parts espresso in the cup) in about 30 seconds. This recipe is always my starting point when searching for the perfect espresso recipe. The most important thing is not to change everything at once, but to adjust only one variable at a time (dose, amount of espresso in the cup, time). I usually stick to the gram specifications of the portafilter, so I only need to find the right grind size and, if necessary, adjust the amount of espresso in the cup. This is ALWAYS a matter of taste. Everyone likes their espresso differently. My instructions certainly aren't perfect, but they're primarily intended to help beginners pull a delicious espresso with their portafilter FASTER.
