Andy Rottenberg: Family Stories." The book was published by Marginesy Publishing House. Order Anda Rottenberg's autographed book "Family Stories" from our online bookstore: https://ksiegarnia.bigbookcafe.pl/pl/... On the occasion of the reissue of Anda Rottenberg's autobiographical saga "You're Welcome," the art historian and curator shares her family history – Poland, Russia, Switzerland, and Canada, the search for identity, and coming to terms with fate. Michał Nogaś, a radio and print journalist associated with "Gazeta Wyborcza," Radio Nowy Świat, and formerly with Radio Trójka, asks. In a candid and unhurried conversation, Michał Nogaś asks, among other things, about the curator's family relationships, not shying away from painful and difficult topics, including: Anda Rottenberg discusses her son's drug addiction, the persistent remorse she experienced as a result, and her strategies for coping with the suffering and addiction of a loved one. Anda Rottenberg also discusses her family of choice—the people she became so close to that they became, to a certain extent, a surrogate family for her, thanks to whom she has several adopted grandchildren and is surrounded by people she can trust and rely on. Michał Nogaś, for example, asks about the validating role the pandemic has played in her relationships. Rottenberg discusses the immense kindness she has encountered from people much younger than herself, but also how she lost contact with some friends her own age, recounting how the pandemic has narrowed the circle of people she truly cares about. She also shares an anecdote about Maja Komorowska calling to inquire about her well-being and health, embarrassing her in the process – Rottenberg felt she should have made such a call to the distinguished actress herself. She also recalls a more significant moment in her biography, which verified her relationships: the imposition of martial law in 1981. The conversation touches on the book, but also on relationships, personal experiences, and art. The evening unfolds at a relaxed pace, with readers having the opportunity to ask questions in the comments and purchase Andra Rottenberg's books with autographs and personal dedications. ABOUT THE BOOK "YOU ARE WELCOME": In this book, Anda Rottenberg reconstructs the extraordinary story of her own family, a diverse group of ethnic and religious affiliations. The search for her ancestors intertwines with the story of her missing son, which the author shares with courage and honesty. This is a book about difficult relationships, love, suffering, and waiting. About falling and rising again. The author uses unique family stories to embrace the absent. She doesn't retouch anything. In 2010, the book was nominated for the Nike Literary Award.
