Curciu – Capela fortificată, din abandon la casă de oaspeți | Cine ascultă o casă?
In the village of Curciu (Sibiu County), a chapel inside the fortified church is being brought back to life through careful reconversion: from an abandoned space it becomes a guest house for the community and for those who want to get to know the village. Episode 5 of “Who Listens to a House?” follows the process on the ground – from archaeological research and stone restoration, to carpentry, execution details and commissioning – a project that has been completed, awarded and featured in the specialized press. Join us: • Cristi Cismaru – manager, Fortified Churches Foundation / director of My Transylvania Foundation • Dana Crișan – church custodian / accommodation administrator • Andra Nicoleanu – architect • Tudor Pavelescu – architect • Marian Țiplic – archaeologist • Sidonia Olea – stone restorer • Ștefan Spindler – site manager • Attila Gálfi – construction team • Gálfi Imre-Balázs – builder’s representative • Szényeș Szilárd – construction team • Attila Szasz – carpenter What you see in the episode: • how to correctly read a chapel and what you preserve (stonework, stratigraphy, traces of use); • material compatibility: stone + lime, wooden joinery, traditional coverings; • applied archaeology: what excavations reveal and how they influence the design; • stone restoration details (cleaning, additions, grouting) and joinery; • organization of the construction site into a fortified ensemble and a model for its use as an accommodation space (maintenance, flows, public). 🟡 Tell us in the comments what other place you would like us to "listen" to in the next episodes. ➠ SUBSCRIBE to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/@CronicariDig...
