Kongsberg til Rødberg

This drive is a special one, following the road through Numedal, specifically tracking the (mostly) former Numedalsbanen (Numedal Railway). This beautiful valley feels more akin to what you'd find on the Norwegian west coast as the tall mountains and rugged cliffs close in the further north you drive. Following this old railway line was an incredible experience. The first part from Kongsberg to Rødberg is still used to carry freight but north of there, you can explore old bridges and some longer tunnels in spectacular surroundings. If time had been on my side, I'd have liked to have rented a rail bike and properly covered the line between Veggli and Rødberg. Not only is the scenery and transport history through this valley incredible, there are a few stave churches to visit as well. This was one of my favourite days out from this trip and hopefully this video will convey not only the history of the valley but also how special an area it is.
