This episode of Survivors looks at the disturbing story of Ash Wednesday, one of the worst disasters to hit Australia this century. In April 1983 devastating wildfires took hold of the state of Victoria in south-east Australia. Of the 47 who died on that day, 21 were from Upper Beaconsfield. Survivors recount the story of one of the small town's families, the Griffiths, a newly arrived family of people from England.
