Freely adapted from Wikipedia IT The Gospel According to Philip is a Gnostic gospel, written in Coptic in the second half of the 2nd century, perhaps from a lost Greek original. The pseudepigraphal attribution is to Philip the Apostle. (Editor's note: Disciples of a particular school signed their literary works with the name of their teacher, both to honor the teacher and to give the writing authority. This form is called pseudepigraphal and is found in both canonical and apocryphal writings.) This gospel contains some sayings of Jesus, and pays particular attention to the teachings on the sacraments, to which it adds that of the "bridal chamber."
