how to give a good consultaion

In this video I'm giving a few simple tips to giving a good consultation. Sometimes its hard for us to fully understand our clients, but we always want to make sure that we do! Ask lots of questions!!! get your client talking about there hair. Touch on everything the past, present, and future of their hair! This will allow you to know about anything you may need to be cautious about doing to their hair if its been overly processed in the past, or simply a suggestion of something new that can better fit their current lifestyle. Pictures say a thousand words so encourage all your clients to bring pictures of what they do want, and get them talking about what they don't want!! Us hairstylist are visuals already so having a picture to refer to can be a lot of help. The most IMPORTANT THING! is BE HONEST!!! It is so important to be realistic and honest with every client! if you know its not a good idea to do something or you know it may be very difficult to get someone to the color they want simply because their hair has been through too much or has a resistant color, you are only saving yourself a hott mess!! and a unhappy client so educate them on what is to be the expected realistic result! Build each relationship with every client on a foundation of honesty and love and I GUARANTEE the clients will love you for that and keep you busy with more referrals!!
