The "Mechanics" section is the first section of the five-semester general physics course. The entire course is fundamental for students in the Faculty of Physics and Engineering and forms the foundation for all subsequent studies. The first semester covers classical mechanics, elements of special relativity, elements of oscillation theory, elasticity theory, and continuum mechanics. Both classical results and achievements of modern physics are discussed within the context of the material covered. The course emphasizes the study of physical phenomena and laws, and it is expected that issues requiring specialized mathematical training will be addressed in subsequent courses in mathematical and theoretical physics. Upon completion of this course, students should know the fundamental laws of mechanics and be able to apply them to problem solving.
